    MY MONEY - THE BASIC FINANCIAL CAPABILITY

    QES wants the community we serve to talk and learn about money, to plan for the future, to be debt-smart, save and invest. We want our learners to get ahead financially.

     

    Our programme will improve basic financial capability over three modules:

     

    • Understanding the deal. Developing learner’s skills to navigate everyday financial decisions.

    • The Power of Saving. Supporting learners to plan for their future through understanding their options and developing strategies to meet their financial goals.

    • The Cost of Debt. 
       

    Supporting learners to understand the cost of debt and how to manage and reduce debt. Graduates will also learn how to use financial literacy tools on www.sorted.org.nz.

    STEP-BY-STEP- COMPUTER BASICS

    QES wants to equip learners with foundation computer skills to become active, confident and successful members of the digital world. Basic computer skills are required to complete everyday activities such as internet banking, email communication and applying for jobs.

    ​

    Our programme will cover a range of basic skills as student’s complete two digital projects, including:

    ​

    • Create a web page using a template. 

    • Develop and use keyboarding skills to enter text  Find information using the internet. 

    • Use computer technology to create and deliver a PowerPoint presentation. 

     

    Graduates will also learn through Pathways Awarua module “Word Fit: 100 Computing words”.

    AKO LITERACY & NUMERACY

    Life is full of challenges that require foundation literacy and numeracy skills. QES wants to strengthen literacy and numeracy through a programme of activities that are relevant and meaningful to adult learners such as:

     

    • Completing an incident report, filling in a form.

    • Demonstrate knowledge and apply listening techniques, Read and assess texts on a topic.

    • Number knowledge and facts. Students will also learn through Pathways Awarua modules covering.

    • General numeracy, General reading, Writing, Listening, Number facts, Word Fit.

    QES SUPPORTS LIFELONG LEARNING

     

    Pathways Awarua is a free, fun and easy way to learn online, within a real-life context, such as learning to navigate everyday decisions. QES learners will use the tool during study and can complete the full suite of Pathways modules anytime, anywhere and from any device after completing the programme.
